Each month, this website will interview a local runner.  This runner may
not necessarily set records, but instead shows a desire and dedication
for the sport.

Personal Status

21, attends Defiance College, engaged to Melissa Groll, youth pastor at Second Baptist
Church, lead a ministry called Primetime at DC, integrated math major

What is your favorite race?

Apache Run 5K(!) or Dave's 10 miler in Delta.

What is your personal record?

17:24 for a 5K

What is your favorite type of run?

A twelve miler where you start slow and build to a strong finish.

What is the toughest race you have participated in?

The Lima Kewpee Triathlon

What is your least favorite run?

Mile repeat, 6 minutes on hill, mile repeat, 6 minutes on hills with 4 slow minute jog in
between,  effective but really hard

What are your goals for the future?

In the next ten years I want to run in my first marathon, compete in a 1/2 Ironman, and
attempt the 24 hour run.

What is your favorite shoe?

Brooks Adrenaline

What is your most memorable running highlight?

Our team (Fairview) winning our conference meet my senior year in high school.

What is your longest run?

21 miles

What is the best thing about running?

You can do it anywhere without a lot of preparation.

What is the worst thing about running?

Dogs, big ones, note-personally I think the small annoying ones are the worst.

Embarrassing moment while running?  

Getting attacked by a squirrel while running with my fiancé and screaming like a girl, or
putting my shorts on backwards and not realizing it until I was at the start line (
I was
there, it was really, really funny)

What is something you have learned over time?

You have good days and bad days, learn to enjoy the bad days and you will have a lot
less of them.
